In my statistics class we were doing somthing with cars from 1978 and MPG. This beauty popped up. Anyone know if this info is real or not. I plan on giving my prof some info that she didnt see coming.
1978 Buick Regal Turbo.
231 c.i. - correct
165hp - ?
18mpg - ?
6 cylinder - correct
3445lbs - ?
What does it do in 13 seconds? 100ft? The comp says 0-60, I say BS.

165 HP is corect for the 4-barrel version, althogh some magazine reported 175.

18.0 mpg city and 18.0 highway reported byt Car and Driver in Sept '77.

Curb wieght is ~3445.

Performance from Car and Driver
0-30 = 3.7 sec
0-60 = 11.2 sec
0-70 = 15.2

¼ mile 18.2 @ 77.4

Magazine performance are usually poor. (No building boost at launch, lower octane fuel availabilty.) Consumer Reports only managed a 13.4 sec 0-60 time.

Thanks for all the info. Well, I am very surprised how accurate the info was. The only sad thing is it was compared to VW's, honda's, etc. There was one V8 Cutlass. But the TB was the fastest, even with those numbers.

well you got to think that this was a time where gas prices were an issue, car companies had yet to figure out how to get performance and meet emissions

the turbo on the regals was just suppose to be for economy, give it a little added power, but then they figured out that you could get peformance out of it.... (84-87GNs :D )

hopefuly i can get my motor to put out over 200 hp lol
