Until you really learn the car and the tuning aspects of it I would advise you to assume any knock you see is real knock and not to ignore it. So whatever it is you're doing when there's knock, stop doing that. In the meantime go about your upgrades starting with the fuel system and chip. Just...

Like the title says I'd like to remove the plating on my maf pipe and turbo shield. Then polish and leave bare. Any tips or tricks for a do at home job? Could I sand with maybe a 220 300 and finish with a 1200? Before I hit it with my polishing wheels? Wasn't sure how durable this shit is.

I was lucky enuf that the guy I bought the car from chose the right cam 212/212 I believe, converter and turbo to match. I changed out the converter and upgraded to alkycontrol from an old smc kit. Cas V4 intercooler, 60lb inj and TT chip. Heads have only been cleaned up. Great street manners...

You haven't mentioned seeing knock when the car's giving you trouble. If you haven't seen any then proceed with your troubleshooting. If you have seen it then stop doing whatever it is you're doing when it happens. Then proceed with caution.

Every car is different but 128 is where you want to be. Above and its adding fuel due to a possible vacuum leak. Some say +10 is ok but I like mine at 128

Your scanmaster readings at warm idle would have shown a vacuum leak in your INT and BLM
