    trans/converter making noise?

My converter started doing this when it started to go bad. Noise went away when you got above walking speed, and when in neutral. Got louder with time and a bit before it failed it started acting like the lock up was acting up and not releasing properly.

    Can't/won't burn out!

Hi Miles, We need to catch up with each other some time, look the car over and check out the tune. There's some good times in there just waiting to get out. Would have liked to have spoke more at the week end, couldn't seem to catch you. Ian.

    crank machining

There are no visible cracks (wouldn't know for sure without testing tho), just scratches in the journal bearing surface. I wouldn't normally consider it but for the fact that cranks here in the UK are a bit thin on the ground, there's probably less than ten turbo Buicks over here. Would be...

    crank machining

How far under can you grind a stock crank? I have one that let go of a rod and put some scores into the journal. Not too deep but not sure if the journal will go down enough to take them out. Has anyone ever had a crank repaired in the way of welding deep scratches and re-grinding? The...

    What's this converter from?

Thanks for the info, never heard of them either. I bought a trans from a friend and this converter came with it. It's new but the D6 and six lugs threw me a bit, didn't know if it was usable or not. I've no idea of the stall speed, I assume it's been reworked seeing as it says turbo on it...

    What's this converter from?

I have a converter which I assume is rebuilt - Has D6 or D9 stamped around it. (not sure which way up the number is) Has marker pen writing on it that reads CGE, part # B15X, turbo 2004R, Turbo. Has six flex plate lugs. Anyone know what it was originally from? I think it came from Dr...

    Breaking news - Kirban

Back to the Kawasaki green thing, Molly used to race off road bikes (as I did, thats how the conversation started) he said there were a few no no's/ superstitions in the paddock. Two of which were no women and nothing green on the bike. When he got the chance to forward a colour design to...

How many European members and your car

Good times indeed. You do realise Sandy, that I hold you partially responsible for my addiction. Hope your car arrives soon and you can get it ready for the Mopar Nats this year. I suppose you're still waiting on the 10 sec motor install. The attatchment (if I've done this right) shows my...

GN headliner kit? Not pre-assem unit

Did mine myself but you have to be really meticulous with the removal of the old stuff on the board. Time consuming, but if you take your time the results are great. Looking back, if someone would have done mine for $50, I would have sat back with a drink and happily let them do it.

slight whining noise with car in gear (TC?)

I'd say torque converter - had exactly the same thing with mine. Ran it till it developed a problem a bit like the lock up solenoid not releasing at coast down and the car wanted to stall. I thought it was the solenoid. Anyway, swapped the converter (Dusty hooked me up - highly recomended)...
