Recommendations for chip if keeping cat

Does anyone recommend a good running performance chip if keeping the catalytic converter? Unfortunately my cat is welded in and I live in wonderful emissions testing California. I guess if there is such a chip, I'd like it to have the same characteristics as a Thrasher 92 but run in closed...

What size is the through bolt for the calipers?

I was checking the wear on my front disc brake pads and noticed that the caliper through bolts are allen head and not regular type head bolts. Does anyone know the exact size allen head wrench I need to get to loosen the bolts for the calipers? The largest I had was an 8mm which was way too...

Any thoughts on using a 237 FPR with alky?

I'm in the process of gathering the parts for my alcohol injection. I currently am using a Bosch 237 fuel pressure regulator. I would like to keep my car's setup mild (aftermarket chip and 20 lbs boost max). Would a 237 be OK or do I need an adjustable FPR? Thanks for your input.

Installation question for those who have installed a transmission cooler

I bought a stacked plate tranny cooler and would like to mount it in front of the radiator on my '86 T-Type. My question is: What is the best way to access the area between the front of the radiator and the grille? Basically, in detail, what do I have to remove in order to get to the front...

Transmission experts: inline trans filter advice

I'm about to install an external trans cooler on my '86 T-type. In the past I have seen some transmission shops put disposable filters about the size of a soup can before the cooler. My questions are: Are these any good? Do they greatly restrict flow and put undue pressure on the pump...

I just bought an '86 Regal T-type. Has 65,000 original miles and was never tuned up. The car is difficult to start whether hot or cold. I changed the plugs, pcv, wires, O2 sensor, and catalytic converter (I'm getting it ready for the California smog test.) and is still hard to start. I have...

    Which chip?

I just bought an all stock 1986 T-type. (I stupidly sold an '87 8 years ago). Basically, I was wondering if I could just make a chip change... nothing else (NO new injectors, exhaust, cam changes, etc.) to get a little more go power out of my car. I would like to hear your...

I just purchased an 1986 Ttype that was registered and originally sold in Michigan. It is being shipped to me in California next week. I was wondering before I try to register it here in California if I should maybe "test only" the car first or just try to see if it will pass the strict smog...
