Quick no alky question

Since I obviously suck at searching... What do you do when you run out of alky, denatured, meth or whatever you call it, when you're driving? Do you just yank off a few psi on the wastegate rod and call it a day?

When you say run out your not running it anymore? When you run out just stay out of boost then fill her up again, if your not running it anymore get a new chip and run 12 psi with some tuning maybe 16 psi:biggrin:When I see the low fuel light come on I take it easy because I know I only have a 1/2 gallon left

Ok, I'll rephrase... You're driving down the road. You're 10000 miles from the nearest methanol refil station... cuz you know, they're on every corner. And the bucket that contains the methanol you use for your alky injection kit, runs out. As in, while driving, it became empty, by whatever means you can imagine. Now..... after this alky jug becomes devoid of all alcohol, or methanol, what do you do. Stay out of the boost... right. And I'll cruise at 11 mph allll the way home, while NEVER soo much as even passing someone. THAT'LL happen. How do you pass without pressing the throttle down quickly? How do you pull out into traffic? I can tell you this, if you wanna get home from work, in detroit, you have to depress the throttle, period.

So now what electronic, physical, or even mental, emotional and/or spiritual changes must I make to my car, to be able to run it, now that the alcohol's all gone. Am I correct in assuming that you just turn the psi down to whatever your car can run on, with the octane you just threw in there, and that's it? Or what. I'm guessing that when the little "empty container" sensor is on, the alky pump get's shut off to prevent wear/damage? But now, will your tune be way off? Will you have to screw with the timing as well?
What's the scoop.

Then the best would be an electronic boost control , you would then have a few settings run out of alky lower boost as for tuning I dont think you would need anything then when you refill set the boost control back where you were

I would think that the timing would be fine, So if you play with the safe boost low settings just keep an eye on Knock and make your adjustments, Give Julio a call or maybe he will chime in here?

fill up with washer fluid or just plain water , either will effectively suppress knock but you just wont net the same hp as with methananol ,
' most winsheild washerfluid is nearly 50% meth (though no guarantee on the %) and available at nearly every gas station or convenience store

Walmart. Get some HEET bootles. Go to Home Depot, Sherwin Williams, or any hardware store.. they carry denatured.

Drive the car normally.. no need for big boost when away from home.. Its like being low on gas, you just dont race the car.

I dont know what the big deal is in having to race the car 100% of the time.. you only race it when conditions permit. If you dont have alky, then dont race it. But that car will drive anywhere..

Ok. Was more curious if anything else had to be adjusted if I wasn't spraying at the time. And yea, I was thinking about water as well. That would be better than nothing. Very good, thank you guys very much. I can't wait till next season.

you should be able to get into boost without the alky never having to limp home with no boost.my stock motor would see no knock to 15psi,more than enough boost to get you home;)if you are real nervous caught without alky then drive the car lightly.

Keep it topped off and when the low fuel light lights refill it. I take a small jug along with me when I go to the track just in case I use it all up. Remember it's proportional to your boost level. If you keep it under 15lbs of boost your not using the same amount as 26. Find a source of meth and keep a 5gal pail at home. It's really not that big a deal.
