    TH350 to Northstar V8?

Thanks. The mod wouldn't be for me - to fill you in a little: I've had an enquiry from a potential buyer of a TH350 I'm selling. He wants to know if it'll fit a Northstar, but has not gone into detail about which vehicle it came from. I will probably contact him to see if he's still...

    TH350 to Northstar V8?

Cheers mate, I've had a look over the site, and sent him an email, will wait and see....

    TH350 to Northstar V8?

Thanks for the link.... I'm really trying to find out if a TH350 (that I already have) will work, and with what mods, rather than a 700-R4... although it looks like the 700 would be easier! Perhaps someone does an adapter plate....?

    TH350 to Northstar V8?

Bit of a random question (or maybe it's not?), but is it a common mod to hook up a TH350 to a Northstar V8? Does an adaptor plate exist for such a marriage? I know this isn't particularly Buick related, but I'm banking on the wealth of knowledgeable trans guys here! Cheers Theo

    Rollerizing vs plain thrust washers...

Ok, thanks for the info - I'll have a look at the Delco website. Fair point regarding the non-stock locations. I would probably feel the same way if I was doing these mods for my job! One thing I do have plenty of in this build is time, so I'm quite happy to have a look at working out...

    Rollerizing vs plain thrust washers...

Does that mean that a good rebuild kit or thrust bearing kit will come with the roller bearing for that location? Can anybody tell me the part#s of the roller bearings for the remaining non-stock locations we've dicussed above? Cheers! Theo

    Rollerizing vs plain thrust washers...

I certainly need to put something new in the thrust location behind the rear sprag - the plastic thrust washer there has snapped in two, which is common according to what I've learnt so far. So it looks like time to get some of these parts chucked up in the lathe! This all leads to the...

    Rollerizing vs plain thrust washers...

OK, cheers mate. I'll look it over when I get a minute. The dirty work's pretty much done now - all stripped down and cleaned. I just need to inspect and start writing the shopping list! Not rushing on this though, it's clear the project won't be finished in time to use it this summer so...

    Front Planet - Stock OK?

Ok, thanks. I'd have thought someone might have grafted in a hardened spline by now, if they're problematic here. Who rebuilds these? I've not found any online yet (but haven't searched too hard yet, to be fair!) I may see if it's possible to get something made over here, then welded in...

    Rollerizing vs plain thrust washers...

I'd be very surprised if this unit has a hardened sun shell, but also very pleased! I think it's of 1981 vintage. Are the hardened ones only heat treated at the splines, or is the whole unit a tougher material? Thinking or running a needle file over the metal to see if it's hard or not... I was...

    Rollerizing vs plain thrust washers...

Interesting points, thanks guys. I must confess I've yet to sit down with all the gear parts cleaned up and just study them for where all the forces react, but I do intend to. It seems logical that the factory Torringtons would only be used where the thrust loads are high. In the other auto...

    Front Planet - Stock OK?

Hi Donnie, yup, that's the unit I'm referring to. I guess we have to distinguish between "wear" and actual deformation of the splines - in my case I think it's the latter. I was surprised how rough looking they were, but perhaps I'm being overly fussy! I will take a pic and post it up when I...

Thanks for the replies folks. I've dropped Chris an email and look forward to his reply.

    Rollerizing vs plain thrust washers...

Now I'm getting into my 200-4r rebuild the questions are coming thick and fast :D For some background, I bought a very rough looking core unit after a long search, to put in my 1980 vette. See the thread linked here...

    Front Planet - Stock OK?

Looks nice! I don't know if a billet unit is worth the expense for my car (I'm assuming it won't be super cheap!) at what power levels are the stock ones considered for replacement?
