    Changing AC compressor

Great information. I'll give it a shot in the morning. I think the nut by the tensioner is my problem. I'll get a better shot at it with the tensioner off. Amazing how much you forget, especially when you're my age (76). Thanks again.

    Changing AC compressor

Neg. cable off and alt. turned up max. without removing. Can't get compressor loose. Taken out top long bolt nearest fender and bottom short bolt on back bracket to head. Took nut off long bolt on other side near tensioner and bolt slides back part way, but "jams", and compressor is still...

    Changing AC compressor

I'm replacing the AC compressor on my '87 GN. Been 8 years since I converted to R-134 and replaced the compressor. My CD version of the Service Manual doesn't have an exploded assembly of the mounting brackets/bolting. I've got the alternator tilted up. Does it have to be removed? Does the belt...

    Changing the AC clutch

My '87 GN AC just stopped working. I tried a hot wire from the battery to the clutch coil connector and got nothing. I assume it is the coil. When I converted the car to R134 5 years ago, I just replaced the entire compressor. Is there a "how to" for changing just the clutch with the compressor...

    power drain

Thanks to all. I found the problem. I had wired the tach to a "hot always" terminal instead of a "key on" hot spot. Electrical things are my worst enemy.

    Dash light bulbs

I assume the speedometer cable must come off to give clearance to pull the cluster. Something is holding it back. I guess the connector is on the back of the speedo under the dash? Is it a spring clip type or screw-on?

    power drain

I installed a tach and boost gage and evidently disturbed some wiring or something. Ran the battery down in one night. There is a pretty good spark when I connect the battery, enough to light a dash bulb. Pulling the Clock fuse stops the drain. I connected to the interiorlight fuse for my...

    Dash light bulbs

Simple question. Is there any easy way to change instrument panel light bulbs? Can you access them from the front or do you have to get them from under the dash? I'm wanting to go with the brighter bulbs (#168). Thanks in advance

    steering column sleeve

I just installed my new mini-tach and booster gage. I made a bracket and mounted them to the steering column sleeve. Tight fit, but it works. Then I tried to drive and discovered that the steering column sleeve moves when you shift gears. Obviously, this won't work. Is there a way to dis-connect...

    Boost Gage hookup

Many thanks to all. I'll get-r-done when it warms up a bit! 87 GN, cold air, walbro, hot wire, TT chip, translator/MAF.

    Boost Gage hookup

Got a boost gage for Christmas. Is there a "preferred" place to screw into the intake?

    Installing Fuel Pressure Gauge

The factory rail end cap has a small o-ring at the bottom which seals against the tapered end of the rail. The end of your adapter may be shaped differently and not allow a seal. I notice that Jeg's has 4AN end caps (Earl's #361-592904 ) for fuel systems. They don't mention how they seal or what...

    Installing Fuel Pressure Gauge

Don't forget that the fuel rail outer threads are STRAIGHT threads, not tapered like pipe threads. I would not trust anything to seal over the long haul and especially to be safe on gasloine under the hood. That end cap is really just to keep foreign matter out of the end of the rail. What kind...
