Time to go to hotair motor school...

Jerry, my mistake, the e-mail is Joanne413@charter.net. I like the 86/87 intake on your car, with the intercooler. I would like to talk to you about that modificaton some time. It sounds like a good winter project. Did you see any good performance gains with that set up over the old stock...

    Need Help

Thanks for the reply. I will change the setting for 1/2nd gear. The MAP is connected by the stock connector that goes to the ecu. Do I have to chase the wires, cut open the bundle and connect the map wires to the board? I did not do that

    Need Help

What would cause the MAP and boost presure reading that I am getting on my power logger? The car runs fine until I give it about 1/3 throttle and than pops through the intake. My vacuum gauge shows normal vacuum and boost readings. I disconnected the MAP sensor but the power logger still gives...

    Screen Shot

I just rebuilt the motor on my 85GN. I am getting spark advance of 26.1 degrees at idle. Do these numbers look right? I am running E-85 with 60lb injectors and a new turbo tweek chip set up for E85. I have no experience reading power logger data. Thanks Frank

    Engine Rebuild Project

Hey guys, I am rebuilding my motor on my 85 GN. What gasket kit do you recommend and where is the best place to get it? Can you get a kit that has a good head gasket set? What has worked for you? Thanks Frank:)

    No start question

Guys, thanks for the responses, it turned out to be what fmster and charlief1 said, it was the crank sensor. Thanks for the help. So for the record, if you plug an 87 coil pack and module into an 84/85 car, without the Caspers addaptor, you blow the crank sensor. Good to know.

Thanks for the responses, I will check for a spark and gas later today or tomorrow. I'm thinking I took out either the cam sensor, crank sensor or ECU...

Yes it was running. I get 46 lbs of fuel presure as soon as I turn on the key.

    No start question

I mistakenly plugged an 87 coil pack/control module into my 85 without the wiring adapter. The car did not start so I swapped back to my 85 set up, but the car still does not start. I checked my fuses under the dash and found no blown fuses. Any thoughts on what I may have blown. Are there any...

    FYI - Timing Sprocket

For anyone who is new to hot airs, when you start your performance upgrades, consider starting with looking at your timing sprocket. Attached should be a picture of what was left to mine after 111k. I got very lucky, I'm suprised the car ran. I was down to four teeth left on the sprocket:eek:
