Is it ok to have too much fluid??

Checking Trannie Oil To properly check trannie oil, start car and move the shift lever into each range for a couple of seconds, place it in park with the engine left running, then check the oil level. A little high is OK (1/4 to 1/2 inch) but one inch over you should lossen a fitting...

Do 200-4Rs really weigh 97 lbs.?

Shipping I shipped one out to PTS without the TQ and it was close to 175#s in a stout crate so I would estimate between 150 & 125 for the trannie only.

Fastest E.T. on 2004R and what about Cryofreezing tranny parts to go faster?

Cryoing How the process is done controls the actual benefit. I'd suggest you look here http://www.metal-wear.com/ Most of the improvements for the 2004R have been via billet parts of superior materials--PTS is the leader with that effort. But cryoing does work--especially on cast...

    Synthetics are best

Synthetic Sorry for the-less-than-precise explanation. Total synthetic lubricating fluids are what NASCAR teams run. Smoky Y. started the trend of using synthetic oil by using oil that was used exclusively in jet engines at the time. I've been told, but do not know this for a fact...

    Synthetics are best

Whether it is Royal Purple or Amsoil, synthetics are superior in reducing friction. Unless you are racing and trying to alter the "grip" characteristics to improve your racing times use what the factory recommends Dextron III or equivelants. GM spent millions in R&D to reach that...

    PTS Blue Plate Special

A very long track I run the standing mile at Maxton, NC with an old restored Chevy--a barn door. Could only muster 113 mph with a mildly souped 283, I was at 103 mph at the half-mile marker. I did a horsepower requirements calculation to reach 200 mph with my frontal area/rolling...

    PTS Blue Plate Special

chimp = skimp TB needs a spell check, I guess. Not an intentional dig, Freudian slip maybe so skip the witch hunt 1sadwe4. Just sending well deserved kudos to the folks at PTS who paved the way for all of us 200R4 users to get to where we are today.

    PTS Blue Plate Special

Late last year I received my PTS Xtreme 200R4 in its mini-coffin shipping box. I ordered the best-of-everything, absolutely-unbreakable, Bruce-in-a-box model. For the last two months I’ve burned tires, downshifted, upshifted, slipped and slammed and generally tried to gouge the payment up...

    200 r4 what other cars?

86-87 I think the 86 & 87 trannies in bold would best represent the hi-po models.

    First transmission rebuild, any recommendations?

2004R Jackleg Rebuild First, search this forum--this subject has been posted many times with several approaches/parts/advice/ect. recommended. Also, the CZF is an excellent 2004R, why don't you get something less valuable for your first rebuild, like an OG? Second, at a minimun buy a billet...

Oil fliter O-ring stuck in pump...

O-ring remover The best tool that I've found to get those oil filter rings out is a paint can opener. Seems to be angled just right to grip it and not scratch the o-ring bore. Ace Hardware gives them away.

    TCC Polarity--new versus old question

How to check? Thanks for your quick response Mean Buicks. You confirmed my worst fear, at least regarding the TCC. Is there any way to determine the TCC polarity without removing the oil pan and looking at the wires?
