This thing smokes under full boost only

How did this thread turn into a debate of who is more right [emoji23][emoji1787][emoji23]

Replace balance cover gaskets as mentioned. Borrow a turbo and install it..... test in the same boost conditions. Let us all know if it fixed itself.

Been there done that before. [emoji3061]

it always does...LOL...

We should get a little wager going here.... [emoji23]. I feel like in the time I have owned these cars I have had almost every non-traditional problem with them that has had me scratching my head for a while. I also have over complicated many things as well. I still have issues I need to figure out as we speak [emoji1787]

I’ll do some testing and answer the question on who was more right when I’m done

i didnt lay my hat on anything just offing some ways for you to isolate better.

I understand and appreciate that. Trying to add a little levity. I’m trying to find a turbo that I can borrow locally as that would be ideal for testing but all the TR guys tend to live in Houston and Dallas as opposed to Austin. Worst case after I do valve cover gaskets and mess with the breather I’ll pull the turbo and see what happens!

i was just trying to help and offer some info up on how to hopefully isolate, could be a few things but you guys can have fun with it now.
you can't isolate shit with that recommendation ....maybe a really bad turbo... which will already be known...by inspection...shaft play ...but as always ...opinions vary...

It might actually smoke at high rpm, not just wot. So it might be helpful to rev it in the driveway with the hood open, turbo off and so on. Got to eliminate small stuff or give in and rebuild everything right?

1 thing you can do for sure is find out right away if the turbo is causing the smoking.not wait weeks for a company to charge $250 +minimun to even look at it.

btw i dont appreciate how your making statements on my recommendation.i was not offering advise to you and i dont need you to grade my response to another member regardless of how you feel.there are alot of things guys suggest on this board including yourself i dont agree with and i dont just go quoting them saying there ideas are shit.there are many ways to skin a cat,or in your case many different tractors out there that can cut the grass.

I would think something could leak more when under load ...when more pressure is applied ...vs a nominal...weaker pressure load..but some seals work better when pressure applied .....back to my tractor ... :sneaky:

"Back to my tractor"

Grass Doctor putting ram air on his bestest unit!:LOL:

and your the one who got your water hot... on my one simple comment ...sometimes when you mess with the bull you get the horns ..or the bullshit... LOL...

OP. You said the oil was on the DS on the plug wires and steering shaft after a couple of WOT pulls. Was the oil dip stick pushed up at all?

Just went and checked it. It was “pushed out” some. Not rattling around out but definitely not all the way down.

I would suspect then, that the crankcase is pressurizing. Go to my channel and watch me race the yellow vette. Exhaust is clear until about 150 feet out and then I fog for mosquitoes.

You might want to take a clean shop towel folded into a small piece, and zip tie it right below the oil dipstick and then take the car for a few WOT blasts then check to see if the shop towel is saturated with oil. Mine was soaked after just 1 WOT blast.
