Out of the..

Good luck. I recommend you have every favorite meal at least once in the next week, just to stock up on memories :). Walk as much as you can in the days after surgery, it was amazing but every step made me feel a little better. Whatever size meals you are used to now, as you go back to more solid food try to eat more times per day and keep each meal to about one quarter of what you eat now for a meal, at most.

Carl, it sounds as tho you've already BTDT!!
The walking is going to start the day I get out of recovery...
That advice is exactly what I've received from the dr!!
He did say that after about 2 weeks, if I am feeling good, & no complications, go back to my regular routine..Just no lifting more than 30# for at least 30 days.

Thanks for the encouragement!(y)

Good luck to you guy. I just went through the surgery in June . giant polyp was too big for the scope. Docs got it all and some intestine and colon. Recovery a bitch. advice- fight like hell to get back on feet. It hurt like a bitch to sit up and stand but walking the best meds. I got out of bed 12 hrs after surgery. It fricking was hard but I got out of the hospital in just 3 days. I am now back 99 % busting ass in my garage now. Surgery saved my life. Polyp was cancerous but lymph nodes not involved. good luck brother.

I've got 3 of the nastys..
The ct scans, biopsys, and ultrasound says no cancer..Dr said he'll cut them up when they are out, to be sure.
The gall bladder is going adios, too. Stones in it. He's not offering a "two fer" discount, tho. [Only the anesthesia gets a break.]
Dr says 5 days in "pergatory"..Sure hope the nurses are hot...W/ my luck, I'll get the 300# "playmate"...:banghead::D

Good to hear U R doing well.(y)

Thanks for the kind words!

Sorry to hear buddy. I wish you a speedy recovery and will see you in BG. My house is filled up with parts for the Nasty Wendy car, so I cannot wait to get it together and give it to Clay.
See you there...

Yes, btdt. They took a foot of colon, surgery over about 1 pm, at 10 pm my nurse woke me up and said it was time to go for a walk. I could sit up but she had to pick up my legs and swing me around so I could stand. I swear that I felt noticeably better each step for at least the first ten feet. This ward was shaped like a triangle so you could do laps. As we were coming around and getting close to my room all I could think of was how much it was going to hurt when I sat down and tried to pick my legs up, so I asked if we could do a second lap just to put the pain off. She got a real funny look on her face and said "Sure", so we did. I just didn't tell her why :). Surgery on Tuesday, went home Friday at 5 pm with my bottle of hydrocodone/Tylenol, but after Monday I only needed about 3 more for my entire recovery. I was back at work in 2 weeks, just couldn't lift or eat anything but mush. Took a long, long time for my system to get used to real food again and I still never know what quantity will be ok; that's why I'm telling you to eat whatever you like now while you can. Seriously, I think I was about 80% back after three years and I'm still not the rest of the way after four.

Chuck,
I hope your surgery goes well and you get the "all clear" message soon.

Take care and get well soon. With enough meds even a 300 lbs nurse looks good:eek:
THAT would be a lot of meds:confused: Take care Chuck and look forward to meeting you sometime. I just relocated to Madison GA, and been checking out the Walmart:D

Charlie, thanks for the help! I've "sniped" a few, during your absence...

I'm hoping to be back at some "light duty assignments" around the middle of sept..:D

Here hopes and prayers for the speedy recovery.
Now you get to catch up with the all the great daytime television programming.

Best of luck to you Chuck.
Back in 04 I had emergency surgery for perforated colon at age 27. Long story short my guts ended up looking like Nasty Wendy's S-hose pic.
Walking and tooting was tough and painful at first but slowly got the hang of it ;)
Hope you have a fast recovery!
