when I turn my ignition forward too quickly, the cylinder feels as it disengages from inside the column mechanism, the key then "freewheels", and doesnt catch, then the only way to fix the problem is to drop the column and with long pliers, pinch the metal rod back towards the cylinder, during which time it reengages with the cylinder key assembly. Has anyone ever experienced this before. Also the key can be removed when the ignition is in forward position, along with steering wheel has very slight play. Im figuring I probably need a ignition column overhaul.
Does anyone know what the problem can be, besides prob needing a new cylinder and tightening he wheel a bit.
Im hoping its an easy DIYlow cost fix...Rather than have to take it to a column specialist and do me over for a few hundred....:/
