rear wheel width

I just ordered 15x9 Weld rims with 4 1/2 backspacing. I'll be posting pics when they arrive. No frame notch, no rolled lips.

i think that what i have on mine but ive been reading about people useing 10's on the rear

Depends more on the tire than the rim! I have 10" wide wheels on back with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 in 305-30-19 (I think) with shaved frame rails. I also shaved the top of the wheel well trim to be safe...didn't want to risk cutting new tires. You could put a narrow tire on a wide rim and clear everything but what would be the point?

Oops...I have 295-30-19's on rear...not 305-30-19!

not sure yet im thinking maybe an 17 or 18 in wheel so i can get some hitech rubber under the car also want to lower the car too

What size tire are you going to try? Drag radial?
I currently have MT 255/60-15 drag radials that I'll be mounting first. Once they're worn out I may go with either a 275/60 or 275/50. Not sure. I really prefer a 27 inch tall tire but they're hard to find. I've read about the 295/55 and I may get adventurous and try those.

New rear wheels arrived. They are Weld Star rims by Weld Racing. 15x9 with 4.5 backspacing. For now, I've mounted my MT 255/60's. Plenty of room between the tire and frame. 275's should fit with no problem.

I'll show some before pics with 15x7 factory 'T' rims... (FYI, they have about 3 7/8 backspacing):

And the new rims. Pics don't do these wheels justice. The polished surface is like a mirror. The camera really doesn't pick that up too well.

I forgot to mention, that the same tires on the new wheels have 1 inch more total width. They are now 10.9" wide compared to just 9.9" wide. The sidewall is no longer pinched in. They have a 'full' look to them. I have 15x5 fronts still on back order. I'll post pics when they arrive.

Front rims arrived. They are 15x5 with 2.5" backspacing. They sit a little too far inward in my opinion, so I've ordered some wheel spacers to bring them out. Also the center caps don't fit because of the way the bearing sticks out. Once I bolt on the wheel spacers this will be resolved.

how tall are your front tires what size ? Do they make a 1 peice front for those wheels ?

i went with 8.5 in rear wheels cant remember bs 275/60/15's and 26 1/2 on the 3.5 fronts cant remember size right off but they are kumhos

Great wheel choice, the black centers go well with our cars. The wider wheel spreads the tire out nice, no buldge on the sidewall.

How much clearance between the sidewall and the unnotched frame rails ?

Would love to see it with a lowered stance with the wheel/tire combination...

There is about 3/4 inch clearance between the rear tire and the frame. The front tires are 26 tall, 6 1/2 wide. Weld does make a similar rim without the bolts. It's less expensive too.

Here are a few pics of my car with Billet Specialties "Street Lites" 15"x7" fronts and 15"x10"s rears. The tires are 215-65-15's fronts (which is the stock size and 275-60-15's rears.

The 275's look great on a 10" rim.
