hello peoples: I went from stock rim size to 16 x 8's and the ride got stiffer and the road bumps got more noticeable. Now if U went to a 17 or 18 x 8's the ride would even get worst. Do youz that went to 17 or 18's was it worth it?.

I went from the factory 215/65/15’s to 255/50-16’s and the ride got stiffer the same as you’ve noticed.
I believe the factory tires were only S rated and have a softer sidewall than V rated tires.
I didn’t notice any difference in ride when going from 16” wheels to 17” wheels.
I ran 255/40-17’s fronts and 285/40-17’s rears. The sidewall stiffness is similar between 16’s and 17’s, the ride difference is negligible.

The tire selection for 16x8 rims is almost non existent. There are no 255x50x16 street tires available in my searches. Just some drag radials or 275 versions.

There's a hand full of street tire options in 225/50 and 245/50 and a couple drag radials in 255/50

The shorter the sidewall, the more noticeable bumps will be unless you have adjustable shocks that you can dial some of that out. I have 16x8's now with with 50 series tires aren't bad. Have a set of 17's waiting with 40 series tires so I'm expecting a slight increase in stiffness.
