new orleans

how long have you lived in La ? not alot of snow but you do have salt air so before you jump get under the car check rear fender well, inside rear qtr in trunk, around fuel tank exhaust componets inside bumpers check tub(floor)from the bottom.

check the plugs remove one see what it looks like check the tail pipe for oil check the air filter, pvc for useage check the oil when was it last changed when you done that located the rust spots check the filters and plugs give us an update

We know you want a GN as did we all but take it from a restoration project going on 3 three years Unless your a mechanic /body man/uphoster

do you plan on driving this daily or is this a project are you looking for a race car or a real fast classic ride the rust will kill you! low or neglected maintenance will catch up the point is see what it going to take do you want. put 5000 in the drive train or 5000 in a body just go over it real well you just don't want any surprises! but if all you said is wrong with it 0 $2500 to $3000 remember just the seats is better than a $1000 dollar to replace just saying

Well I'm looking to fix it up as a weekend car But I'm just trying to see for a 86 white T-TYPE with 76000 miles with the seats needs to be recover and some minor body work and paintshop with little rust on the body so by telling y'all guys this much is it a good price bc I might be buying it later on today

Anyone in the central valley (fresno, CA) that can come with me to see
PHP:

Looking to buy an 85 in the Westland MI area. Anyone free to check on the car for me? I need to at least know it exists. LOL

Southwest Florida area

Anyone available to inspect Grand Nationals / T-types in southwest Florida (Fort Myers area)?

Anyone able to check out a GN in Totawa, NJ?? Let me know what you may need from me... only asking because the pics the guy has up are hideous. By the way, i'm in South Maryland and have a had a few g-body's if anyone may need help looking at a car in the area.

Excellent idea! Is anyone available in the Portland, OR area? I'm interested in a 1986 GN there.

I belong to a RV club that uses a map of the USA to pinpoint club members. It doesn't show street address but, in this case, it could show city & state location. The site shows our first names and model of coach we own. Someone needing help in a particular area could click on that area and the volunteer would pop up with an email link or PM icon. Someone would have to stress the need to be prudent and not request help on more than one car or whatever limit was decided upon. Just a thought. I'm interested in three GN's at the moment and a map is a lot easier to use than scrolling through this posting and keeping a personal list of who is where. I'm also only asking for help on the GN that I'm most interested in. Bill - In search for a GN replacement for my 1966 Riviera GS that was just totaled and picked up last week.

I'm sorry to say I no longer need assistance in the Portland area. The seller of this ebay GN refused to provide any better pictures or description. I have cash on hand but apparently not for this car. He suggested I look in my area so that I can see it in person. I explained there weren't any and suggested he advertise in his local area if he didn't want to answer questions and provide information to interested buyers across the country. I needed more information because the mileage was suspect.

While this type of thread/assistance is a GREAT idea, it is hard to come to realization.
Never had any response to my request a few posts up.
The BEST and IMO "Only way" to buy one of these cars if you are serious; Go and see the car, period.
If not, you are playing Russian Roulette.
My $0.02. Good luck!

I responded to this earlier but it must be hiding in cyberspace.

There are other ways to look at a car if you're a serious buyer. First of all, I'm looking at several cars, you're not saying I'm expected to fly out and look at each one are you? That would be really expensive and I'm not rich. If I were, I'd be buying a GNX instead. Since I'm not rich and can't afford to fly out and look at each and every car, I try and get enough information about each car so that I can make an intelligent decision to go to the next step.

The next step might involve finding someone to look at it if available or paying someone to go over it with a fine tooth comb and camera. BEFORE I can get to that step, I would have needed enough information about the car to get serious about it in the first place. This is where a good seller comes in; ask Grumpy, I'm sure he would agree. A seller needs to provide enough information about a car for the perspective buyer to proceed. Information should include a detailed description about things such as mileage, condition, repair and collision history, etc. along with some good pictures. There is a guy on this website advertising his BEAUTIFUL Regal T-Type. He set the bar very high but everyone should strive provide the best information and pictures they're capable of WITHOUT the buyer having to pull teeth to get answers; I'm not a dentist. I have no intention of playing Russian roulette but I won't take a chance on throwing good money after bad without having quite a bit of information first. The seller in this particular case, refused to help me get there and that is his prerogative. On the flip side of his prerogative is a good possibility her retains ownership instead of achieving his goal of selling the car.

If, after having someone look at the car in question, I feel this is the car for me, then I might fly out and take a look or, if I feel really comfortable with the seller AND the car, I might actually roll the dice. I've ppurchased two cars and a Goldwing, sight unseen and didn't so much as notice the roulette wheel spinning, let alone one representing the Russian version.

Sure, it woud be expensive to fly out to see each car on this board. LOL
Obviously, you need to narrow it down to one or three cars ;), and go from there.

Point I tried to make earlier is;
Don't be dissapointed if no one in the area is willing to go look at the car for you.
Good luck.
