I want to see some 275/60/15 DRAG RADIALS on 10" wide rims - stock frame, no notch. Anyone here got that setup?

They would have to stick out or ride real high. Mine are on a 8 and barely fit.

mine has been notched tho, but i like the way my reg radial work on a 10 inch wheel... i can run 27# of air in them and still have 1.68 60ft best so far.. not bad for reg radials.. not dr's

275-60-15 mt radials on 15x10 w/5" bs with a 7/32 spacer, stock frame rails.

I don't have any photos, but I have used 10" rims with a 5" backspace with 26 X 11.5 X 15 ET streets at the track. I used a 1/4" spacer.

Me!...That my exact setup for my street wheels/tires. I have some Good Year Eagles II 275-60-15's mounted on Billet Specialties "Street Lites" 10'x15"s with a rear spacing of 4.5". The tire's sidewall is close to the frame, about 1/2", (stock, NO notch!), but doesn't rub at all.
The pictures below show the clearance between the tire's inside sidewall bulge and the frame (viewed under the car from the front of the car looking back. Right pic is right side of the car and left is left side...) Note that I am using a 1/4" spacer on the left side to even the spacing from left to right as the whole rear axle isn't perfectly centered under the car (it rarely is...)

i didn't like the reverse bulge on a set of 10's with 4.5 bs. however the dr's 275's are built bigger and look ok.
15x9 with 4.5 bs is the perfect answer. i eventually had a set of 10's with 5" bs cut to 15x9.

Thanks John. That looks really good. Are you on stock springs? It looks slightly lower. I really like that look.

would a 15x9 with a 4 7/8 bs work without spacer(on a 275/60/15 dr) ?
i do have a 1/4" spacer which would put the bs @ 4 3/4 but not sure if that will work either. Any thoughts on this? just trying to figure out b-4 purchasing wheels. I am looking at the holeshots holestars, and they only make them with 3 7/8 bs or 4 7/8 bs for the regals. I know that the 8" would be perfect with the 3 7/8 bs but would like a little wider if possible. (I did have a 15x10 centerline with 275/60/15 regular radial tires that had a 5" bs with a 1/4" spacer that fit but in my opinion the rim was too big for the tire, kinda caused the tire to reverse bulge).

I spoke with a rep at Centerline and they can make me a 15x9 with whatever backspacing I want for around $310 each (Centerline Qualifier wheel). According to my measurements, a 15x9 would fit best with 4 3/8 backspace. I believe the rep said they generally do 1/4 inch increments on the rear spacing, so you'll either have to go with 4 1/4, or go with 4 1/2 and possibly need spacers (depending on how centered the rear is).

The 15x10 works best with 4 3/4 backspace. A 15x8 is best with 4 inch backspace.

For the record, I had some 15x8's with 4 1/2 backspace sitting around and I decided to mock them up. They fit fine without rubbing, but they only had BFG 245/60's on them and there is minimal sidewall bulge past the rim. If they were 275/60's they would of rubbed on the inside (due to more sidewall bulging past the rim).

Mmmm...not exactly. You need 4 1/2" rear spacing for a 15"x10" wheel and 3 1/2" for a 15"x8". Anything more than that will result having the tire's sidewall rubbing against the frame....I know because I TRIED IT.

See?...You got your answer! (You need 3 1/2" for that size wheel)...

You are incorrect, sir. Every car is different, so what rubs on yours may not rub on someone elses. These are measurements that I've tried on my car and may or may not work on yours or someone elses. Also, read the above posts, they're running 15x10 with 4 3/4 backspace (5 inch with 1/4 spacer).

I'm currently running 4 inch backspace with no rubbing on the inside.

I was at a car show recently, and a gentlemen was running 15x8 with 3 1/2 backspace with 275/50's. I measured his clearance between the tire and the frame and it was around 1 1/4 inches. He easily could of ran 4 inches of backspace, or even 4 1/4 without rubbing.

I agree, 15x8 looks and works best on a 4" bs.

15x10 backspace

I have put together a small fleet of g bodys ranging anywhere from a 85 t type to a 79 cutlass to a 86 cutlass, a few monte ss' from 85 to 88 and a couple of gn's. It seems that the the wheel always fits and looks best being dead center, ie 15 x8 4'' bs or 15 x 10 5'' bs or 15 x 7 3.5'' bs. The problem comes in tire section witdth, the actually side bulge area. It seems like each tire manufacture has a little wiggle area on where this measurement is. Each car I built I would decide wheel size on the tire I wanted to run. The variances in frame rails between two cars can be squared up with adjustable upper control arms. Most of the time it is a difference of less than 1/8'' so it is not like you would have to **** the rear end crooked to get it square. I have seen one mid 80's cutlass come to my shop after putting some nice trz arms on and it was tighter on one side by about an 1/8''. We figured the car might have been hit and one point, a quick adjustment of the arms squared it right up. If you run less bs your fender lip will be a factor if the car is lowered. I have ran a monte ss with about 3 1/2'' of drop in the back with a 15 x8 4'' bs and a 275 60 bf drag radial. With a 10'' wheel it would have pushed the section out a little on the tire and I do not think it would have been able to clear being that low. My whole point is to really figure which brand of tires you want to run get a real measurement tread width, section width, and true diameter and center it up in the wheel well, it is more difference in brand of tires than car to car. And a 3lb hammer can always be helpful lol.
