Some fallen Tr's. ....don't hate me for this....

I'll never understand people that would rather have something rot than just part ways with it and let it go to a good home.

Same here, however a friend of mine does own a 69 Camaro that his dad gave him before he was 15. Car is in a mess and needs a total restore. He's had offers to buy it but he doesn't want to sell b/c he feels he'll never get to own another one. However it continues to sit b/c he has no money to fix it, and he has no money to fix it b/c he works low dollar paying jobs whenever he feels like working.

I'd guess other reasons for not selling are if someone's owned it for so long and they have too many memories and such it's as if the car is family. But OTOH if you're going to let it sit, you might as well let someone else have it who can/will fix it/drive it.

Wow !

Wow. So, um, I suddenly want to get full coverage insurance on mine. Should I find a collector car insurance company or try to go through my own and have it at a "stated value"?

I use American Collectors and I LOVE'EM ! Less than a week turn around on a towing claim. No hassles, no questions.. just sent me a check.

god !! it feels like i just came from a funeral

X 2 ! ! ! My first and last time looking at a thread like this one... just heart wrenching

For the record.......this one was repaired...It CAN be done...for some of them.

Kuddos turbonut... nice to see someone save vs scrap !

Here's my addition to this thread......not that I'm proud of it!:frown: The gray car is one of many we used to build my little brothers 87 T. We used a lot of interior parts, the frame, fenders, taillights, etc from that car for his T. The body looked pretty good until we took off the lower chrome rocker moldings and there wasnt anything behind it!

The black one is an 87 T I bought as an expensive parts car, you could literally pull the quarters away from the body 3 feet! Rockers were toast, doors were toast, fenders were toast, it was wreck in the front end and the interior was gone as well. I found blood spatter all over in the back seat (or at least were it owuld have been) and all over the headliner. The windsheild had been replaced and someone put some crappy seats out of a newer car in it. It's pretty obvious why the original seats were gone, the carpet was extremely stained in the back as well. It's pretty obvious the bullets came in through the windsheild straight into whoever was sitting in the back seat. I didnt want to see this all go to waste because it was on it way to being a scrapper so I bought it for way too much money! Oh well, I got my money back out of it almost and have a few parts I needed.

Both of these cars were donated to a stock car guy that drove 7 hours to come and get them. And yes, he drove home this way 7 hours too! At least it stopped them from buying a couple more good Regals just to cut up!!!

this 1 will probably end up on this list unless somebody pays me what it's worth soon as i am sick of looking at it! i will give you a update if things don't go well.

Maybe you should try fixing them instead of just parting them.....

Dont part it man someone that otherwise couldnt afford a gn could put that back together how much?

I just threw up a little.............

No wonder good examples of these cars are so hard to find.

if ive space for it n a way to get it over here, id try getting it! I have a source for various 3.8s and 3800s from the local yards that could be good candidates for it with the Metric RWD bellhousing trans!

everybody is a critic! come buy it then $4000. as far as trying to fix them instead of parting them i am.the motor +tranny + intercooler+gauges +etc....out of the so so gn went into this VERY NICE we4 car will hopefully be running on thursday. a lot of you guys only 1 or 2 of these cars i currently have 9 and the gn is no virgin that i am messing up.car has been 4 sale in the cars 4 sale section and the parts section since june.i also been trying to sell it on craigslist but everybody wants to trade you something.i'll get my money out of it one way or another.

the problem with what you're asking is that there are complete Hot Airs and early GNs with running gear and everything for the price that most people would be willing to buy..unfortunately. there IS an 84 GN for $3500 local to me, but i haven't heard from them if its an NA engine one or a turbo one....likely its an NA one

$4000 for a stripped GN with no drivetrain or 8.5 rear end? Man, thats a nice car, thats very sad.:frown:

The whole "lets strip a perfectly good GN/T-type to parts cuz I can't get what I want for it" is getting more and more common...must be really that hard up for cash. It's bad enough the damn thieves have stolen and stripped god only knows how many of them. Sure it might net you more cash but if you're any bit of a true car guy you'll reconsider, unless of course said car under the blade is a totalled car/rusted out car that's going to cost too much to rebuild....or if you really need the $$ b/c your wife/kids are dying and the $$ won't come from anywhere else.

To each his own but the day will come when there's very few, if any real GN's/T types left, then people will start cloning them and eventually passing them off as the real deal, just like how they do with all the old Chevelles, GTO's, etc now. History indeed does repeat itself. My 2 cents save what you can if you can.

Shameless hijack...Well, it's not a TR but a brother anyway. Look at Tweety dissing the "toebo's".
slide_strip.jpg

lol@ tweety sticker. i think that is seriously fixable. maybe need a frame realignment machine, but otherwise, need to source the Buick specific front end parts and make sure engine is good, and you're good to go! (or new frame for that matter lol)
