68 Chevelle

Thanks, Im super new to sheet metal repair so Im satisfied with it. Im workin on the other side right now, tryin to get the dash painted by Monday so I can get the windsheild installed before I go to Vegas next Friday.

A bit of an update

Got the other side done, was a bit tougher as the metal around it was thinner.

I was looking at your engine bay pics for ideas about how to mount the power steering fluid resevoir. Is that the way you left it?

Lol yea its been hanging out there, Ive been meaning to mount it better on the wheel well but I think ill have to extend the big return hose on it.

Nice Ride!

How did you setup your gas tank, lines, and fuel pump?

I'm curious to see as that's one of the items I'm trying to resolve on my 64 Lark build.

Stock buick tank/pickup/pump done up with the usual hotwire

Chevelle 5/16" feed line used as the return

Used as much of the stock buick feedline as I could get off the buick (this includes from the engine, to the filter, and about 4 more feet of the 3/8" hardline) , the rest was supplimented with rubber (about 2ft)

Vent line is about 3 ft long and is fastened to the top of the rear end hump ( so its above the tank)

Good luck and ask more if needed!

Any pics of the tank setup? I assume you cut the filler neck and relocated the cap to the center of the bumper....

Thanks.

Thanks for the pics.

Looks like the G-body straps bolted right into your existing supports...

I'll have to figure that one out on my 64 as the configuration is reversed and will require some creativity on my part.

Did you make a plate or mount fixture for the cap end behind the plate?

Bear with me, I've got a five gallon bucket full of questions...

I used the Chevelle straps actually, they are a bit loose though.

"Did you make a plate or mount fixture for the cap end behind the plate?"

Do you mean did I fix the neck to the car at all? If so then no. Ill tell you what man, filling this thing is a pain in the donkey. I have to hold the gas pump at half staff the whole time.

i WAS going to do that (some sort of bracket to hold the neck in place) but tomorrow is another day.

i have the same problem  i have to go to slow pumps on purpose:mad::mad:

i have been toying with the idea of routing the tank neck through the trunk and out the back (right above the plate and in between the two moldings)ala 66 mustang style, but i just can't bring my self to hacking the car up like that. it would solve the filling up issue HMMM.

Thanks Sean. I gotta get back to work, been dragging ass on it.

I sprayed the epoxy primer on the dash but it came out looking terrible. It was too cold and raining out, I also think I might have mixed it wrong cause I was looking at the wrong marks on the cup. Ive stripped it all off and need to get going again, this toyota Im driving is no thriller!

i have been looking at your pictures for a while now and i just couldn't figure out what in the picture i didn't get and i think i got it.

Am i seeing this correct?
Form front to the back.
1-Radiator support
2-AC condenser
3-"FRONT" Mount I/C
4-Radiator.
Do you have an after-market AC set up?
