a simple google using the word on the license plate would have told you what this fugly thing is..

actually, its 253mph stock. Top Gear tested it on VW's private track.

There is an episode of Top Gear where they race the veyron across France against a prop plane. The veyron won.

There is actually a gauge in the car to let you know how much of the 1,001hp you are using.

The car is an engineers dream. VW (owner of Bugatti) doesn't really make any money on this car, but instead they did this to show just how far ahead of everyone else they are technology wise.

Basically it was VW's "Look at what we can do" car.

2 1/2 MILLION dollars and they don't make money on it!? Your serious, right??? And for the record.......It looks like a $6000 ricer on crack IMO.

Where are you getting 2.5 million? It was originally 1 million, and there are different models of it.

Most Expensive Cars In The World: Top 10 List 2009-2010 - SuperCar

Link lists it at 1.7 million.

When you put in perspective the amount of time it took to engineer all of the parts on this car, they don't make much money proportionally as other cars do.

If it looks like a 6,000$ ricer on crack, I feel sorry for you. You can't seem to appreciate engineering greatness, regardless of looks. You ever think it looks like that for a reason? Hitting 253mph takes as little drag as you can muster. They approached F1 teams and asked to use their wind tunnels, and the F1 teams had to turn them away because their wind tunnels would not go that fast.

This car truly is greatness. If you cannot see that, well, I feel sorry for you.

The Veyron web site is pretty cool and you can pick just about any color combination you want and they'll make it that way... which explains the Red/white.

Who cares, no one will see you when you blow past them at 200+mph :eek:. I like to front of the car, but the back is ugly. I heard that at top speed you run out of gas in about 13 miles, but if you kept that speed the tires would actually fail, I'd rather fill up than flip it at 250 mph

I believe at top speed you run out of fuel in around 4 minutes, and your tires only last for 20 minutes or so.

However, finding somewhere where you can travel 253mph for 4 minutes is really the hard part of the equation.

Yeah something like that, i'm not sure of the details but I know you cant go too far at 250 mph. 4 minutes does ring a bell for some reason. supposidly(SP) you have to go a certain speed before the car will even LET you go 250.

I think you mean you have to enter a special key before the car will let you do 250?

Dont you have to go XXXmph before your the car allows you to go WOT? I know you need a key, but I thought you need to reach a certain speed before you can go for the gusto. So people dont get the car from the dealer and start going 250mph 5 minutes later?

No I don't believe so. On Top Gear they raced a jet fighter and he floored it right from the get-go.

Besides, who cares if they floor it from the dealer, they are only limited to 150(I believe) without the 2nd key, and it is on their insurance anyway. I don't think anyone looking to purchase a 1.5+ million dollar car would be worried about money to cover if they crashed it hahaha.

I have seen test drives of the Veyron before, the dealer goes with them. I imagine they keep the 2nd key as well. Besides, where could they even hit 120+ near a dealership? Freeway I suppose...

Good thing you didn't crash into it. I doubt your insurance covers a million in damages.

Rare sighting 4 sure. Not that I think anyone is really missing anything. Kinda ugly imo. Maybe it was just that awful paint job.
