I was on my way home from Lou's shop and found this guy so I went ahead and stalked him a little. Finally he was alongside me in trafic, but there was no room for us to go for it, but he pumped the peddle to make his super charge whine at me, so I pumped back and spool'd n' sneezed my turbo at him.

We ended up next to each other later, so when the light went green, I gave him the jump to be sure he really wanted this whuppin he was about to receive.

He took off so I went all in and went right around him...yes....with the tires still spinning and let out when I had a couple lengths on him.

This SVT was obviously a stocker, but you never know when you'll find a tuned one...
He was cool after the kill and gave me a thumbs up.

Haha damn you need to pick on someone your size  Nice kill...

Tell ya what, next time I come to to SoCal you drive the Camaro, I'll drive your GN with a lil boost adjustment.. what do you say???? ;) Don't worry I've owned 4 TRs I know what I'm doing

LOL:biggrin:
I have been looking for someone more competative, but they are always going the wrong direction, or the conditions (traffic, location, etc.) are not right so it just doesn't happen. So for now...if someone picks a fight with me....I come out swinging.....that's just how I'm wired.

I did light my tires off at a couple Vipers yesterday as I went in front of them across an intersection to see if they'd bight, but they didn't turn and follow me. One of them has killed me before but that was with the old engine, stock turbo, down pipe, stock IC and my old bad transmission. I think all I had atthe time was alky, 17 lbs of boost and maybe a TRC Big Mouth cold air kit going for me....I deserved to get killed for even trying.

I've actually got a couple Camaro buddies who are trying to get me to the track in the GN. I think I finally have the GN ready.
One of them has a 69 that's been into the mid 11's on N2O. He just swapped his old camel hump heads for AFR's and made some suspension improvements and is aiming for high 10's this year. He'll be a challenge....probably won't beat him.

The other has done one very high 11 also on N20 but normally sits in low to mid 12 range. I know I'll get him with some work on my tune.

Honestly, I also need to do a couple things to finish the Camaro off and make it track ready, and then get it to the track to see how it'll do. Depending on launch and 60's, it should be an 11 second car. The clutch linkage needs some work and I need to install a puke tank for the radiator and fix one of the drivers side seat bolts that broke off. :D
That car is a handfull. It smokes the tires through third gear and shakes the ground up in the process.

You should be ashamed of yourself for driving around in a modified GN and picking races with stock pick up trucks.

Yeah I have a Lightning too. And it is LIGHTNING not Lightening dammit.

They (Lightnings) really don't stand a chance against a well modded GN. Surprisingly a bone stock L would beat a bone stock GN.

Seems like everybody down where I live ,south of the mason-dixon line, wants to race you with their pick up trucks. I guess its the redneck in us. Well at least I was a smart redneck and got the fastest pick up truck.:D

Thats funny and true about racing Pick up trucks in the south. I was stationed in Alexandria, LA during during the mid-late eighties. Alot of us had some pretty nice cars on the base and of course would go cruising.

I had some fairly fast cars back then and usually could beat the trucks however we started seeing the strange "Black" cars in the street and it wasnt good for us or the trucks that is :D

Of course back then I didn't really know what a TR was or even come close to affording one.. ah the good ol days

Just waiting for Chicken to bring up the Bee Gees again...LOL :p

LOL.
Sorry...spelling aint my strength.
You should have seen it before I corrected all the rest of the typos.

But this guy asked for it. I would have left him alone, but he kept egging me on.

I have seen some 12-13 second Lightnings at the track so you never know.

Back in high school, I was sitting in the parking lot at the local mall in my 2nd 68 Camaro (first one was already totalled and scrapped and I had just bought this one) with some friends...I think Staying Alive was playing on the 8 Track;) while we all fluffed our feathered, parted down the middle hair...and a big ol' GMC dualy flat bed utility truck that sounded just wicked came cruising by and lit his tires off. He turned around and lit them back to where we were then stopped and asks, "Wanna race for some cash?"
This guy seemed entirely too confident and all I was sporting was a stock 327with a Powerslide backing it (passing geeeeeear!!!! ), so I politely declined.
I could tell this guy intended to school me pretty bad.

I've also seen a full sized Kenworth put down a 13 flat and then back it with a few high 12.90's  at the track at a Brizio's Muscle car shoot out in Bakersfield back in the mid 80's. You just never know...

Thanks Wendy, as a fellow Lightning owner i was about to correct the spelling lol. Looks like we have great taste in vehicles :)

Good kill man, just messin' with ya

Well...it must be "Go out in your Ford truck ad get killed by a Turbo Buick week" cuz today on the way home a big ol' modded out F250 Turbo diesel Harley edition went out of his way to along side me at a light, and then he took off spinning his tires, so I had to kill him too.

I have a lightning also & am constantly harassed by scum like this meanchicken I hope he gets a flat tire.

Seems we have a few folks here with excellent tastes in vehicles.

I have seen some 12-13 second Lightnings at the track so you never know.

12-13 seconds isn't much for a Lightning. They were advertised to run 13.8s stock. Mine is bone stock and has five (thats 5 as in one more than foe) 13.0s BONE stock but that was on a 35º day. I believe I have a ringer as it typically runs 13.4-13.6 on average days.

Look you picking on a L.Wish I was close to you because have the L from hell.Cool story bro;)

Hey, Lou.
I thought that Lightning was just your parts truck.

For a change, I'll bring out my big block Camaro and you bring out your twin turbo v-dub.
...just don't go hide in the corners on me...that aint fair.

My bad. I thought they were low 14's stock.
I have seen them go quicker than 12-13's...just seems like the average Lighnings I see at the track are punching the clock in that range.

Tell us about it.
I like the Lighnings!
Really I do...especially when they are in my rear view mirror.

But it wouldn't hurt my pride any to see one from the back for once.

It might actually motivate me to go buy the twin turbo V8 Lou has in his shop...or upgrade to one of his meaner Turbo 6's.... and drop it in my GN so I can run you down.

Maybe next time you'll think twice before you do more work on Chicken's car...LOL  ;)

That would be too easy,I'll just torture him with more speed parts, I have a pair of heads & intake that I'll let him drool over, Sometimes I think I'm running like an opium den for TR owners.

I'm getting the shakes, Lou....I need a speed parts fix.....:D

LOL! Tim Tim Tim... ;) I should stock you one day in my GN. :D

Good Kill! :)

OK!
I'd love to see the back bumper of a 9 second GN:D

I seem to get the most action on the stretch of Trabuco/Irvine that runs past the old El toro Marine base. I dunno why, but it's like Lyon's speedway back there.
Almost every day, I find someone who's as big a jack ass as I am wanting to try out their luck against a GN.
Yesterday some guy in a G35 with and exhaust kit tried a ricer fly by on me. I saw him coming-up rolling a little hot in my rear view mirror just as my light went green (he was timing it so he didn't stop), and he was already past me and pressing his floor before I even started to move, so I figured...BRACKET RACE!!!!!!
I went all in. caught up to him and passed at about 80 and let out of it when he was about 5 cars back. I was still only going 85 ;)
I even left an 00-02 Camaro SS that was right behind me in the dust in the process...he tried until about the time I was catching the G35, but kept falling back and then gave up.
G35 boy saw me again at the other end at Trabuco and Bake and was laughing.
He didn't even know what a GN was!!!
Him: "What the #^** is in that thing?"
Me: Just a lil ol V6
Him: No Way!!!
Me: You never heard of one of these?
Him: What is it?
Me: Grand National...it's a turbo charged 6
Him: Nuh uh....never....
Me: You need to go home and study before you get schooled again....mine aint even close to being the fastest one around...
Him: HAA! Those things are GREAT!!! You pulled me in so fast I couldn't believe it! That thing is SICK!

He was like a kid who just found candy...it was cracking me up.

Instead of "Kill/Fish Stories" I think we need to rename this forum into "The Meanchicken Coop" since you are the only one that seems to be getting any play these days. ;)
