GM TURBO 6 October Meet

Dragstrip Information

As far as the track goes the gates will open 1PM. Time runs however will not begin until 5pm and will run until 9PM. When you come in the gate you must let the gate personnel that you are with the "Buick Event" which will allow entrance into the facility free of charge. The telephone number to the track is 336-449-7411. Their website is located here: Piedmont Dragway. For anyone that maybe coming in on Thursday they will have a TnT session then however I believe the gate fee is $10 and another $8 to make time runs.

Here are directions to the track:
Coming from Burlington (I-40 West): Take exit 141 and turn left and stay on until it dead-ends into Hwy 61 and turn left and then turn right onto Holt's Store Road.

Coming from Greensboro (I-40 East): Take exit 132, the Mt. Hope Church Road exit and turn right and go approximately 6 miles and turn left on Holt's Store Road and the track is about 1/4 mile on the right.

The race gas pumps will be open at the track for this event. For you alky users, methanol was $5/gallon when I was at the track on Sep 18.

K.

Directions

For those of us that haven't been to Richard's before, how do we get to his shop from I40/I85. I once visied his place in the industrial park, but I think that's his place of business. FYI I have four people interested in coming, including myself. Put me down for four. Thanks.

Directions

Exit on Exit 143 (Alamance Road), turn North. set your odometer to “0”, and pay close attention to landmarks and
signs, as there will be several turns. Just to be sure that you are heading in the right direction, at .2 miles there will be a Chevrolet Dealer (Dick Shirley) on your right, and at .4 miles there will be an Exxon station at the intersection of Alamance Road (62) and Mebane Street.
At 1.2 miles, you will come to an intersection where 62 merges with Church
Street. There is a Domino’s Pizza across the street. Go through this
intersection (it will curve VERY slightly to the right.) Stay on 62 North. You
will see signs indicating 62/70—follow those indicating North.
At 1.7 miles there is a Citgo station on your right; continue to follow the
Route 62/70 North signs.
At 2.6 miles the street becomes a divided highway.
At 2.8 miles there is an Exxon station on your left.
At 3 miles you will cross under a railroad bridge.
At 3.3 miles you will turn LEFT onto Holt Street (there will be a sign
indicating 62 North to turn left. After completing this turn, you will cross
62 South after l block. At this point, Holt Street turns into Rauhut Street
(both are still 62 North).
At 6.6 miles you will come to an intersection with a Shell Station on the right;
continue through this intersection.
At 8.5 miles you will turn RIGHT onto Faucette Lane.
At 9.4 miles there will be a small white house on your left with 2 metal
building and several semi-trailers behind it. Turn left at the driveway. The
second metal building is Autosound 2000

Clint,

How will parking and things be handled on Saturday? With so many attending will there be enough parking for everyone considering there will be a couple hundred people there?

I will be coming down on Saturday and just wanted to see how that was going to work.

Thanks,
patrick

parking

That will be decided on the weather. If it is dry we are good to park at the event. If it rains there is a large church that is about 1/4 mile up the street that will be available for parking and we will be able to shuttle people back and forth to their cars as needed. worst case is we may ask people driving non-event vehicles to park at the church and that way we can keep the event cars at the event with no problem...

Confirmed Parking

On the Saturday all NON-EVENT vehicle will be park at the church right up the street. All event vehicles will be able to park on the event grounds right behind the buildings. There will be transportation provided from the non-event location to the actual event location. This will assume no rain for the Saturday or Sunday. In the event of rain all parking will be at the church on Saturday only!!
