Please be aware. There is a band of thieves that is targeting Buick Grand Nationals in the South Florida area and is planning to go further North in search of one. The following listed below is the way that they target the victims:

The thieves target their victims is usually by checking the auto-trader for Buick Grand Nationals for sale, then the thieves contacting the person selling the car pre-tending to be interested in buying the car. They ask when can they go by and see the car, when they show up to check the car what they are really doing is checking out the place were the car is stored, the conditions, and the accessibility (they usually will make a very low offer that they know there is no way that the people will take, and then walk away.) Then they came later and take the car.
Don’t just ignore this warning because your car is not for sale, they also take the cars of opportunity. For example if they are going to look at a GN listed on auto trader and along the way they happen to see one that is easy to take they may just grab that one instead of the one they were originally going for. This is straight from the horses’ mouth.

Someone down in the South Florida area had a similar situation he almost made the mistake of giving his address out, but he didn’t when he told the person on the phone to meet him at a public place, not at his “house" they lost interest and hung-up.

This band of thieves usually gets what they go after, and the worst part is that they have access to a tow-truck and a good place to conceal the cars that is not visible.

It has also been told to me that they will be traveling up north to Central Florida to get a car this weekend and possibly further north too. Please pass this info to your friends.

Thank you for the info & i will pass on the news in my area. Might even help set a trap for these scumbags. ;)

Too bad we can't set up a sting. if I still lived in JacksonVille I would help out on this stituation.

All I can say is:

1. Hopefully a white T-Type doesn't stick out as much as those sinister GNs =)

and

2. If you're ever in my garage uninvited and you hear that familar metalic "click" you don't have to wonder....yes it is the hammer on a 1911...actually no, the .45 stays cocked and locked...so it must be me dropping the thumb safety.

IF thieves that are organized & NEED to FEED their family with Food on the table, pay the mortgage, buy the wife a dress, clothe the kids in Private School & want your car?? (or a high priced Vette, Mercedes etc to ship overseas which is More Likely IMO) then being a PRO they will get it somehow, someway etc. The best thing is Agreed Value Insurance period!!
Now I DO NOT want my car stolen & would feel Raelly BAD but the $$$ I had them agree to pay would help a LOT! I hope that Car Thieves are not NEW to anyone here?? & setting up a Sting?? Oh Ya!! Cops have Nothing better to do than watch 87 GN's all day & eat Donuts?? Get GOOD Insurance!! Only answer! This has happened since day 1 of cars in Every Country so Be Aware & get Insurance!!

Can't the "horses mouth" alert the authorities about this???

Mark, go tell them! See what they say??

Here is the call! Dialing & Answered after 15 mins on HOLD!!
Excuse me sir, can you set up a sting for an 87 GN?? A WHH?? OK WTF is that??? Listen Son IF its even a car?? (so you say they are) I have 5 new Vettes missing, 10 TOP LINE Mercedes, 4 Ferrari's so you need WHAT???
Dial Tone!! Cops could Care less!!
Now Insurance agents might/maybe/sometime/one day....... would/could/possibbly look into it some day at lunchbreak?
get INSURANCE!!

I know this doesnt help, due to the thiefs having a tow truck, but i was thinking about putting a switch on the crank sensor (not literally on it) but this would definatly cause a no-start for any other thiefs trying to hot wire a buick and stealing it. Hope someone catches these fukers

That doesn't mean they'll do a damn thing when it is stolen.

I've dealt with them on two different cars... about as useful as fake tits on a nun.

Totally agree...mine is insured for what I think it would take to buy a suitable replacement. Actually I could buy a nicer car for what I have mine insured for...but the replacement wouldn't be "my" car =) For those that haven't looked into "collector" insurance like Haggerty...you need to. They have basic requirments like you can't use it as "backup vehicle", have to garage store, 5k miles per year or less...but you can't beat not having to haggle with a snotty insurance adjuster trying to explain why "its not *just* a Regal". The agent I talked to when I insured my T-Type said something like "nice choice my buddy has one, they're quick!"

I have a dead tune in my fast system. Everything is flat lined, the car will just flood and nothing will work. I put that tune in the car if I have to leave it someplace in public. I am so paranoid about my car I can safely say I havent had to use that tune in almost two years. Its either in the garage or at the track, no place in between where anyone could get it without pulling a gun on me.

Oh yeah, I also have stated value insurance on my car. The agent has pictures of the car and the appraisal information. If my car disappears I get a load of cash to buy another one. It wouldnt be the same though, I have put a lot of time in restoring the one I have and with the new motor I would be pretty upset that I lost it, no matter how much money I got from insurance. Anyone that doesnt have stated value insurance on their TR is throwing money away. Since your title says CP REGAL T or simply CP REGAL guess what, the insurance company will go by that unless you waste time pushing them for more, you get what a Regal is worth, not a TR. I am with American Family and pay around $120 a year for stated value insurance.

I guess if you use yours as a daily driver you will just need to contact your insurance agent and figure something out. Never just assume because you have full coverage that you are actually fully covered.

I believe if the rear of your GN is accessible for "picking-up" by a tow vehicle, then all the clever no-start-stuff is worth diddly squat & your car will be gone in 260 seconds...

I'm even worse off regarding insurance, as my GN is a daily driver & I cannot qualify for the "limited-use--agreed value" policies.....And, I have no room in my garage for it anyhow--as garage is already full of other limited-use, agreed value stuff. I def'y need get rid of some stuff--would help pay some bills too...

Few years back I moved from South Fla (dont miss it!!).

I have always wondered how many folks looked in the car and wanted to steal it or had the intention.

Always had the column collar, brake pedal to steering wheel club, good alarm, always turned the wheel full lock, etc on the car when parked. Sure it was a detterent

Did have a BRF trans stolen(sitting in the corner), and the badges ripped off of my 86 while up on jackstands in my carport. Never forget when I pulled up and saw the trans gone and the fluid trail that led across the yard and to the road.

My 86 was a theft recovery..column was busted and the engine had been pulled but recovered. The harness was just cut by the heater core. had to replace all of that when I got it

Hope they catch the circle thats doing this crap ther now!

good info to have man thanks...the thing that scares me is i had a dream someone in a towtruck garbed my car... now she parks in the back with a locked gate and the dogs out...

i did'nt know that turbo nasty, ( how are ya big guy:) ) i take it the theft happened here in south-florida? i just got my insurance card from grundy
i have an agree'd value policy but i would never want to go thru everything i've been through again. lo-jack -alarms-cctv's and 4 handguns 1 AR-15 AND 1-700-PDM rifle and the best part is the garage

My Black 86TType was stolen in SW FL (Fort Meyers to be exact) back in 1994/95 from behind the house of a friend. The car was well hidden and the thieves still found her. My friend was even buddy-buddy with the local PD and he got a little more assistance but they basically stated the car was probably in miami or on a container to South America.

I still have the title... Here's the vin: 1GK4GK4776GP429417

If anyone sees her lmk. I have a little something for the scum who took her.

I hope the police catch the people that are doing this crap now. Or at least that maybe the thieves run into a GN owner that is prepared and waiting;)

Car thieves of all types are worthless. I say set a trap, shoot them with rock salt from a 12 GA and let the fuzz know a cop killing donut thief got popped in the pooper. They will seek medical when hit with a 00 dose of mortons. I know, trust me. The local E-room will be visited. Once identified, visit them in jail and make fun of them, because for a carton of cig's, a lifer will put more than rock salt in the pooper.
