What do you do for a living?

CAD Whore for a geotechnical engineering company. Basically they go drill a bunch of holes in the ground and I draw up cross sections, profiles, etc. etc. to show what's going on underground based on the soil and rock samples. Work on anything from small, 4 test boring fast food sites to major highway stuff.
Can't say I like it much. It's boring, I'm stuck at a desk all day, there's no room for advancement here, etc. etc. Pays OK I guess, but it's certainly not my calling. I wish I knew what my calling was :D

How many of you graduated from a 4 year college or University?
If so, a degree in what?

Not to be rude, but it appears that the majority besides Sgrim and a couple others have "bue collar" jobs.

I work for my father in law who is a General Contractor so I have lots of job titles. I have an associates in Industrial Electricity that I never use. But we build steel buildings from as small as a Dollar General to a few 100,000 square foot factories. But my favorite title I have is STEEL ERECTOR. Gotta love it.

BS in Information Technology
MBA (Masters in Business Administration)

Many IT certifications: CCNA, MCSE, MCSA, MCP+I, CNA, Network+, I-Net+, A+

Thought about pursuing a Ph.D, but being a single father to a 5 year old takes all of my time. Now it's more of a long-term goal, not necessarily a necessity.

When you're dead and gone, the level of education you have will not matter (everybody has different career, educational, and personal goals). In my opinion, only the quality time you've spent with your kids and teaching them to become better than you is all that matters.

Alan has a degree in Auto Mechanics from UTI in Houston Texas. (Un-Trained Idiots!) He has been a GM Mechanic for years until we started our own business.

I dont have a degree. I went to college a few semesters for Criminal Justice and worked for our local Sheriffs Dept and I was starving to death. But National Dent is doing very well for us now. Sometimes I think folks go to college to get a degree and end up working for the guy that never went to college but started his/her own business and is very successful.

I took Dave Ramsey's advice when he said " In some fields, your college degree don't mean squat. Your pay check is effective when YOU are." Alan and I are lucky we work well together as brothers. I wouldnt want to work with anyone else. We know what to expect from each other and we are not allegic to work. We get up every morning, kill something and drag it home and in my book thats being successful.
