Window Net Question

Was wondering what are the rules on window's and window nets i was thinking of removing the side door windows on my 87. and replacing them with window nets. Do i still need to have some type of lexan in place or will the window nets do. Just a FYI the car is getting a 8 point cage now i was going to make up some of the added weight by removing the side windows...thanks for any info. also were do they want the nets mounted to, to pass tech ...thanks

What the specific rules are, I can't remember, but I do know you are required to have some sort of glass in place, whether it be Lexan or the factory glass. The window net is there to keep you in the car in the event of a rollover and the window is knocked out/shattered. For the mounting of the net, I would say look on nhra.com or talk to a shop that does chassis work......they should know what the specifics are in reference to mounting per sanctioning body (NHRA, IHRA).
