While apart, should I upgrade oiling system?

I'm refreshing my engine while it is out, and I was wondering,
I am installing a new water pump and timing chain - while the front cover is off, what should I do with the oiling system? Should I just replace the oil pump too? Should I use a high flow unit? Whats up? I have heard though that you can have TOO much oil pressure if you don't have your passageways machined for more flow. What should I do?

Here's what I did. Drill the main feed out to 1/2", new stock gears, KB booster plate, deburr all passages, end clearance at .002, and the yellow spring with an allen bolt for the pressure relief set up. I have 25# at idle, and 75# WOT.

I was going to say what Russ posted but prefer the steel TA booster plate. We see the same results he does having done this on over 100 Buick motors.:)
