What size cap to use for bass blocker?

I just installed some Infinity 5.25 & 3.5's in the doors and dash. They sound really great. I would like to block out some of the low end to help improve the midrange.
I've heard you can use capacitors inline to take out the lows. I need advice on what size cap and where to place them in the circuit. Do they go in series on the + side, the - side or parallel across both? Is there a chart which shows how mfd's affect frequency?

TIA for your feedback.

I assume you have a specific frequency in mind:

check site out: http://www.caraudioanswers.com/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=7

You want a high pass cap filter.

Go here to learn how to find one using long hand calcs or scoll down for the built in calculators: http://www.eatel.net/~amptech/elecdisc/passxovr.htm

Then check out this site for more wiring, different ways to do it, easiest is put the passive xover in the 'plus' line.

http://www.eatel.net/~amptech/elecdisc/xoorder.htm

If you want to get fancy and use a diff type of xover, there is software out there that will calculate cap values for you.

Partsexpress.com use to have a chart in their catalogs of their line of caps specifically for passive x-over applications, I couldnt find it on their website tho.
