what is the most rare nos buick part you own?

Like most Buick guys over the years I have stashed away some nos GM parts. I have heard of guys sitting on rare interior parts etc. What rare parts are you sitting on? Time to share! I have some nos opera windows.

I once worked for a Buick dealer. We had to send back Old Recalled parts to the depot so GM could crush/recycle them.

The parts manager said take those NOS factory 1968 rear quarter panels outta the back room and bring them to the depot because GM wants them back.

I told him NO i won't do it. The look on his face was mystifying. He said why not. I said those rear quarters are worth something to a car guy that might be restoring that car.

I offered to buy them. the manager asked buick dealer owner & he said ok.. the rest is history :wink:

My prized possession is a still working 1987 MAF. I have let a fellow board member borrow it, but I wouldn't sell it.

Not braggin but I have one of almost everything rubber or plastic for the exterior of the car. 8 hole lettered hood pad, grille, headlight bezels, marker lights, all 4 bumper fillers, all the weatherstripping (t top car too) , emblems, door lock bezels, center caps, bumper rub strips, window felts, a/c lines, dash top plate, the only things I don't have are taillights and bezels. The only set of taillight bezels I ever found for sale was priced at $700 for the pair and I didn't want them that bad. Couple that with probably $500 for a full set of lenses and I'd have $1200 taillights . My theory was that the metal stuff can always be painted and interior stuff will be first to be repro'd, so I sold $2K worth of stereo equipment and stocked up for the restoration that my car doesn't even need. I wish I could afford a neglected X to restore.
