Verify GNX # 14

I went and looked at this car today. I believe it to be a clone but a VERY well done one. ALL of the parts are real GNX down to the badge on the dash with number 14 (floor mats, seats, under the hood, etc.). (VIN:1G4GJ1174HP454697). Can you confirm whether this is a GNX or a GN?

IF it is a clone, can you research your data base see if #14 still exsist or if it was wrecked. I am curious to know if it is a clone if parts from #14 were used.

I didn't get to look at the RPO code..... He had the screw in trunk kit.

This car looks like it was built using parts from a real gnx. I know most everything is available aftermarket but this one has everything and they aren't "new". And how he would have came up with car #014 of all numbers? The guy that owns it claims to know nothing about it.

Isn't the registry a beautiful thing. It would suck to buy a GNX keep it for years only to find out its a boot leg. I felt very confident buying mine after contacting the registry. Thanks Doug

No...the owners not claiming "anything" about it. Almost to the point of being overly evasive about it....all he will say about anything is "it was that way when I got it."

Let me be clear...I dont what the deal with this car is...thats what I am trying figure out. All I know for sure is the VIN above didn't belong to #014...but I figured that from the start. What I am trying to figure out is what the deal with the car is before I buy it and run into trouble with not being able to explain what it is where it came from.

Well since I'm sitting about 15 miles from #12, I would guess #14 cant be more then 30-40...lol

I really am that close to #12 though...but I'm actually closer to #3, probably less then 10 miles.

Just to add to this -

I remember seeing #14 at a repair shop in Richardson, Texas about 3 or 4 years ago. Richardson is about 5-10 miles from Carrollton.

It sat inside the "waiting" room - with a huge layer of dust on it. I remember it was #14. Other turbo Buick owners in the area told me the shop used to be big into turbo Buicks back in the 90's. I inquired about the car, but the owner (or person in charge) said it wasn't for sale and really didn't sound interested in sharing any info about the car. Soon after, the car was gone. Just a few months ago I drove by the area and the business is gone.

I bought this car over a year ago. It has all the Kirban GNX stuff on it, VDO/AVC cluster etc. etc. I knew the guy that originally bought it from TX, he has since passed. The guy tht I bought it from got it from his widow. I know it was stated above that #14 lived close to this car, I just wonder if this was mistaken for a real GNX and it was indeded the one in Carrolton TX. Seems strange that real #14 and mine - clone #14 resided so close together. I would llike to get in touch with the TX. owner of the car but have no idea who it is. Do any of you guys know any info on my car? I know about 95% of what it has done to it, would be nice to fill in a few missing blanks. Thanks guys!

I'd always validate the VIN with Doug, prior to purchasing a GNX.

Yeah, before purchasing a one advertised as real, checking with Doug is a must. I bought this car for what it was, it wasn't represented as a GNX, just a tribute car, I guess. I talked to the previous owners widow this afternoon, she said the best she could remember the car came from soomeone with a large cattle ranch around Dallas. Sound familar to anyone? She really couldn't remember anything else, said she may have some paperwork. I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed.
