VDO temp sending unit?

I just bought a VDO temp gauge, and it has the sending unit and wiring. Where do I put the sending unit? Can I wire it into the cars existing sending unit, or is this supposed to replace the factory one? Thanks for the help.

I ASSume you mean a water temp gauge. You need to disconnect and remove the stock sending unit. All it does is work the idiot light. Leave it disconnected. Don't put too much teflon tape on the new sending unit either, as it needs to get good ground to the intake. Otherwise your temp gauge will be off 10-15 degrees. Ask me how I know
