Put 500 miles on the old GN last weekend visiting Upstate NY.

Lots of hill climbing and of course some downhill bonzai driving in the GN.

Went to a small town called Norwich NY to see the Northeast Classic Car Museum.

http://www.classiccarmuseum.org/

My father made parts for George Staley for his 'old cars', which he donated upon his death a couple of years ago, along with $$$ to keep them housed.

A great place to visit with a ton of classic cars to see including this ultra-rare 1938 Graham shark nose.

They even had two hemi's there along with a nice 1963 Riviera, and a 1967 Gran Sport.

One wing was Staley's Franklins built in upstate NY which were the pride of his collection and very rare cars.

Second half of the trip was the Rhinebeck NY Aerodrome which is an unbelievable place to visit for aviation enthusiasts.

Lock up Vigilante single disk and it works great '0' pump around 3K stall.

Stock radiator would get up to 200 uphill in boost, cool down to 165 downhill. :p

Perfect 66-74 degree day didn't have to open the windows until we left the museum around 2pm.

Another 2 hour drive back towards the hotel and up and down Hunter mountain which was riverside/cliffside for about a half hour.

Went right by Cooperstown but my father isn't that big a baseball fan and we didn't have the time to spend there that it required.

It's an incredible museum for way out in the middle of nowhere, population 7000. :p

I think this is a V16 or V12 there were tons of nice cars almost 200 of them in the huge buildings all attached.

Notice the license plates they get driven on occasion.

And of course one of my other favorites an Auburn Speedster, a beautiful car.

I forgot to take a pic. of the nice Cord they had in there and about 150 other beautiful cars. ;)

To the left of some cars would be vintage fashion clothing also in mint condition.

There were also some aircraft engine displays and a special exhibit of "Cars in Tunes" with some song lyrics and the represented car next to the albums etc. GTO, Corvette, Jeep, Chevy 409 etc......

Part 2 of the trip was in Rhinebeck NY, at the Aerodrome.

Here's the 1929 barnstormer New Standard D-25 we went up in for a ride to the Hudson river bridge and back to the field in.

My father went with me also flies in balloons, ultralights, and some bi-planes down at my brothers in MD.

Open cockpit and 9 cylinder rotary motor screaming with the prop about 5 feet from your face.

They did have a lap seat belt however, no harness, and you put on the leather/canvas helmet and goggles so that was a plus.:p

You sit up front under the wing, wind in your face, I'm not sure just how they did that wing walking stuff in the 20's and 30's. :dead:

Takeoff was easy, landing was a bit crosswind say 30 degree angle on the Grass Field. :jawdrop:

I'm not sure I could do that again. :D

My father who's 95 really enjoyed the ride however so it was all good.

Note that the GN has abouut double the HP of this higher powered craft they have there. :p

Here's a WWI German Albatross on takeoff, the Red Baron's first plane before he got the Fokker tri-plane.

And a Spad VII also that went up with him to keep him honest. :D

These are much lower HP planes but fly like birds.

Painted in authentic color schemes.

Nice! I'm from western NY(buffalo), maybe one day my car will be ready to drive, although I don't know about that far from home lol. Nice pictures!

Here's a couple of PRE-WWI planes they actually get off the ground when there's no wind.

Cloth and wood construction and about 30-40 HP. :jawdrop:

Bamboo struts on some and wood (ash or laminate) skids and body construction.
