tv cable adjustment hepl?

I have read many articles about adjusting the tv cable. My question is during a reset, when you release the cable with the button and move it towards the firewall. Do you release the button when the pedal is pushed for it to ratchet back into default position? Just want to get it to GM recommended position before I make any other adjustments. Nothing I have read says to release button or hold button when pedal is pushed!

Yes, you release the button then press the pedal.

Thank you, very well explained read!!! Was afraid if I tried to set in rear position and pushed accelerator without holding the d button I would pull the stopper off my cable..
