Turn signal/Wiper switch replacemnet help

Long story short, Washers wouldn't work so I checked everything and have determined it is the switch that the stalk plugs into in the column. Question is, how intense is it to replace that switch and what's the best way to go about replacing it? Also, I bought a new stalk and while trying to run the wire back down the column, the fishing line I was using broke Any helpful info on this?? Thanks!!

check this out , if it don't help use a coat hanger its a PITA but it worked for me.
