Turn signal lever replacement

Head under the dash with a piece of string. There is a small diameter wire that comes down the column and is plugged into a connector. This connector is under the dash and is a small flat item.

Disconnect cable from connector and tie the string to the cable. Usually there is a hole in the little cable connector end.

Back up top, pull the turn signal stalk straight out. It is just pressed into a clasp that holds it in place. Carefully pull the cable up through the column with the string following.

Remove string from cable, tie string to cable on the new stalk.

Now from below pull the string and feed the cable back down though the column. Disconnect string and connect the cable back into the under-dash connector.

Up top, push stalk straight into place.

Wow, I had no idea it was supposed to be that simple. I had the steering wheel off last week to replace the horn contact and was gonna tackle the stalk replacement at the same time. I did not see how the stalk was removed so I left it alone.
Thanks.
