TRW Pistons

Getting all the parts together for a winter engine rebuild. Using TRW pistons. I see that the stock pistons have small oil feed holes in the pin boss, that the TRW's don't. Has anyone drilled the holes in the TRW's? Any thoughts on whether this is needed or desirable.

Thanks, Dave

Some of the very old TRWs had pin seizing problems for just this reason. Look at old archive posts on gnttype for info. TRW/Fed Mogul/Whoevertheyarenow later modified the pin bore with oiling grooves. Take a look; yours should have the groove. Drilling 'em won't hurt but if you check the pin fitment and have the grooves, they should be fine.
