Trust Bearing failed????

Ok, I sold my 86 to a buddy of mine. Before I did I got a 3800 stall 9" from West Coast Convertors. I also had the tranny done at Tranny Tech by Ivan. Great guy many people in Miami have highly recomended him. Now my friend said that the convertor caused the trust bearing to fail. Its the convertor that has that ring welded on it. Just wondering if tha sounds right. And if someone else has had that problem. TIA

IF the converter was properly installed, and was not a "press fit" to the flexplate, I doubt that was the cause.
Depending on the miles on the engine, it may just be the thrust went away thru natural wear. It just happened to be after you sold the car.
