What is this timing cover off of ? The one with the water pump on it came off my 87 109 block and the 1 without the water pump also came off a 86/87 109 block but the opening where the rubber crank seal goes it too small to accept the new seal. What do I have going on here ?

I know some of these covers had seals that installed from the back. Looks like the clean TC might take?

The oil dirty one appears to be aftermarket and the seal looks to be in backwards. I said LOOKS backwards hard to tell.
The seal in the clean cover is backwards and should press in from the inside

The cover with the water pump has the wrong seal in it. That seal should press in from the back for a stock GM cover. That's why there is so much oil all over the cover. The bottom picture of the stock cover and seal, the seal presses in from the back.

yep ..you can also tell by the tooling mark on the aftermarket cover @11:00 stamped 92...and note the tooling mark on the stock cover ...

Thanks for the replies, the seal went in correctly from the back side of the cover. The aftermarket cover has the seal press in from the front. Thanks for the clarification!
