we transplanted an 87 turbo regal engine and drivetrain into my 85 monte carlo, and have been having numerous drivability issues.....
we swapped almost every sensor from my 87 GN, coil pack, injectors, ECM, MAF, the list goes on- no better.
finally tracked down an OBD1 cable set for my actron scan tool. started reviewing the data, the coolant temp was fluctuating from 0 to 120 degrees F at random, like once a second-30, 0, 118, 65, 0.....and so on. i had replaced the temp sensor with one from o'reilleys, and it was either bad, or was the wrong part! i bought one from auto zone on the way home from work, swapped it, and it was immediately MUCH better.
learn from my mistakes:
-stop throwing parts at the problem, get a scan tool!!
-just because a part is new doesnt make it correct or good!!
