steel shim bore size

Are the steel shims for a 3.8 only or would they work on a 4.1

factory 84-85 steel shim wont go on a 4.1 bore ...heck it was tight n my 030 over 3.8 motor.

if anyone knows of a steel shim to fit a 4.1 please say so cause thats my hold up on doing a 4.1 is going away from a steel shim.

Red's right. I had already ordered my steel shims and then switched over to the 4.1. I set them on the deck just for the heck of it and they don't come close to working. I wish they did though.

I do know there are two part #s for steel shims. One is twice as thick as the other but I didn't bother checking for the diameter of the cylinders.

When my heads were ported the porter unshrouded the exhaust valves and a stock 86-87 gasket hung over and looked like it would burn right off.

I'm not sure about the 87 gaskets but I do know the steel shims aren't perfectly round. Maybe the out or round sections are where you need them to be.
