Side mirror gaskets

After 6.5 years of failthful DD service, I bought a beater and the Buick has been retired to weekend duty. The primary drive is to repaint it. I met my painter on Sunday and he said that the little gasket between the door and the side mirror should be black (unpainted). Is this correct? If so, does anyone stock this new?

Yep just natural black plastic. If you have the painted sport mirrors use GM part number 20215096. Still available from the dealers and most of the vendors carry them as well.
