Shaft play, oil, and scraping

Just got my Thunderfab intercooler. Taking the stock intercooler out I discovered an oil film all though the up-pipe. There is also oil in the throttle body and oil on the outside of all the hoses. There seems to be some oil residue on the entry and exit ducts on the intercooler but not as much as the up-pipe. I then removed the inlet bell to the turbo, shaft play up and down. This is very noticable when looking at it. If I lift the shaft up, it scrapes the top of the housing.

I've look at the other threads on this subject. From what I have read the turbo needs to be replaced. Just want to verify with the experts that its time for a new turbo.

Thanks. mo

From your description, your turbo bearings are worn out. The oil seals go bad quickly when the bearing start to fail. You can have this turbo rebuilt or you can upgrade to a bigger turbo.

oil in intercooler & up pipe

If you PCV valve is bad it will put oil into the upper intake "doghouse" and intercooler when dumping boost .You don't need a PCV with a turbo .
