Scat H Beam rods with 8740 ARP's

If they are 7/16" bolts, they usually torque to 70-75 ft. lbs. with ARP lube. I have no idea what it would be with motor oil.

I replaced a set of 7/16" ARP 8740 rod bolts in my Cat H beam rods. The instructions with the bolts said to torque them to 75 Ft Lbs using ARP Ultra Torque lube, or use the recommended method of using a stretch gauge to measure bolt stretch at .0050-.0055". I know some rod makers recommend using the method you described, but I am not sure of it. My old ARP 8740 bolts torqued to 70 Ft. Lbs. per the rod manufacturer using the old type ARP lube, so that is the torque I used with the old type lube. Some Scat rods used 3/8" bolts, which would have a lower torque spec. I'm sure others have used Scat H-beams and will come up with Scat's instructions.
