Sally's GN build

I a

I agree block off that PCV. Just run two open breathers n be done with it, my car been fine for 10 yrs like that , otherwise you'll be sucking oil into tb and intake .

Is there a second PCV opening on the this car? I just found the one on the pass side.

Wow that's my kind of garage! You definitely got some toys. Good luck with your project, I'm sub'd up

Thanks for the welcome and kind words about my garage. I hope to bring her back to the glory she should have been living.

I'm not sure about the one in the picture, but the black car has an EGR on the intake on the drivers side.;)

It's covered with that silly black round piece of plastic.

Thats what that thing is. I have been looking to see what it is. lol Ok pulling that off tonight.

Wait. You need to plug up the passage way. You normally do this by getting heads or intake with the passages filled. I'm not sure but I believe if you remove the vacuum lines you render it useless. And it still plugs the hole.

Only one pcv. Not sure how to "not" use it but if you want to replace the grommet you need to buy the one from Kirban. The parts stores do not sell the correct one. As for the egr, some after market chips do not use it and you can just block it off. Do you know what chip is in the car? Your Sig doesn't show up on my cell phone. Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Blm on scan tool s/b 128 +/- 10.

H parts N stuff is a vendor here. He makes a t400 Trans mount to the 200 crossmember. you can find the number in the vendor area.

The trans mount is so off center and I thought since it had a th400 in it that the mount had to be made. I guess I'll dig into that some more.

I did breathers on my lightning and after a few years I hated the smell of oil. I could do the same and run a catch can, no problems with that right?

I didn't think this car had EGR on it? If it does it looks like nothing I have seen because I don't see it..
Welcome and congrats , best of luck . Looking foward to seeing the build. I'm fairly new to turbo buicks so Im not sure about the catch can on our cars but I do run one on my turbo Ss camaro and it picks up quite a bit of oil between oil changes.

LOL no not painting it red. My mercedes and lambo are black. But I will be painting my 94 lightning red.

Ya I unscrewed the cable out of the trans and was going to look and see if the gear was broken, but I didn't know these cars and the gear box behind the dash so I'll look at that too.

Didn't mean to mislead you. The "box" is not really box shaped and it is in the engine compartment along the firewall but not attached to it. The upper cable attaches to the device and runs through the firewall to the speedometer head unit. It may be part of the cruise control system and I can't swear that every TR has one.

So ordered a new grill since mine was broken, and the EGR plate.

I'm also cutting these transmission lines since they touch the exhaust and just going to run rubber ones.

Also can you just put the hood 3.8 badges off? There ain't holes for them in the hood?

Also going to pull the intercooler and strip the paint off it.

I'm thinking of spending no more the 50k in my build. I want to stay 3.8 and turbo but I would stroke if I have too. I'm just a noob when it comes to turbo and 6 bangers.

I will be doing some shopping and lots of reading on here. I want to have a 9 second time slip by july 4th.

Wow ! thats an aggressive build schedule, 4 months.
Most machine shops have at least a few month turn around on a fresh build, I'm also assuming that you will be adding a cage to it,possibly notching frame for bigger tire, beefing up fuel system, suspension, rear, etc.

In your first post you said if there is anything you should know or do, to let you know so here are a couple suggestions.
Make sure whoever builds it for you is VERY familiar with building Turbo Buicks ,it's important on a stock motored TR build but especially on a low 9 second build, these cars are their own breed and really need a Turbo Buick specialist not just for the machining and assembly but also on the Tune, which is especially important on these cars because of the high boost you will be running for low 9's. A bad tune can destroy a boosted motor real quick.
Since your budget allows for it,i'll point you towards what i, and probably most people with the same budget would be using for their low 9 second race build.
Here is the link for the T/A block, they also have the rotating assemblies ,heads, intake etc. etc. for 1 stop shopping for big hp applications.

Here is a link to probably the best builder for this motor if you decide to go this route.
I'm sure if you do a search there is alot more threads about it also.

One other thing to think about is whether you are going to use the stock computer or go with xfi or some other stand alone setup.

Good Luck and keep us posted on the progress.

Hood emblems are only taped on. No holes. Fishing line or dental floss will slice those right off.

Looking forward to the details of your build.

They might leave some residue that can show the outline of the badges. Either rebend metal lines or use stainless steel braided line, nhra has limits son how long a rubber line can be.

If you are serious about this being a low 9 second car you are about to get an education, I hope you slept well. Now what is your plan of attack?

WELCOME PILGRIM!!!!
Glad to have you aboard! You came to the best place for education and advice on the TR's. We all work together to promote success in whatever vision one may have for their vehicle. Any one's success is a success for the community and helps to promote our unity. Not to mention the fear of the dark-side when the "other" cars pull up next to us, on the strip or the street lights!
Again Welcome!

I would try to find a TB guy in your area that is running 9s and see if he would be willing to guide you. There's a lot to know if you want to run that number more than once.

There's several 9 second engines for sale right now too.
