safety switch wiring?

Doing my Hybrid wiring and have a question about wiring the safety switch. My question has to do with the ECM Pin B10. Can someone tell me what kind of a signal this pin is looking for?

It's looking for a ground in Park and Neutral tranny positions.

It's looking for an open circuit or NO connection to anything in all other gears.

Thanks. What does the ECM do with the signal? Will the ECM prevent the car from starting if it is not grounded?

It won't prevent the ECM from starting the engine. The P/N input to the ECM is mostly used in the IAC routines. For when shifting into and out of gear. There are also two idle speed tables, one for P/N and the other for in drive.

The last bit is that when in P/N there is a SA modifier.

Usually the biggest issue with no P/N switch is that the engine stalls when the trans is put into gear.
