i know with OBD-I and OBD-II engines, cars will run crazy rich if there is a check engine light.
is this the same with our cars too? my ECU and chip are for an '86/87, but the IAT sensor hasn't been disabled so, you guessed it, i have a CEL for the IAT sensor.

i don't want to drive the car if it's being flooded with fuel, etc.

i ran a search on here and Google but didn't really find anything. any info would be appreciated. thanks!

Iat

Don't be too concerned about the IAT. While it does affect fueling to some degree it is very minute. Other sensors play a much larger role in fueling requirements.

cool. but what about the car running in LIMP mode? a few of my older cars really couldn't be driven that way. reason being, they would run so rich, it would destroy O2 and wideband sensors. even if it is just to a meet.
i don't want to drive the car if i'm washing the cylinders with a grip of fuel.
or, do our cars run relatively "normal" while having a CEL?
