Running hot

My car was running hot so i bought a 160 degree thermostat, my question is do i need a special chip other than stock to run this thermostat? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No. just throw it in and it should hell as long as the rest of your cooling system is all good.

I am doing the same thing and learned you will need to get a new neck and o ring

Changing your thermostat does not fix why you are running hot , My radiator just need a flush . Find out what is creating the run hot situation

New tstat WILL help if the old one wasnt opening all the way or not at all

Does the cooling fan come on? That's key. :biggrin:

the cooling fan does work i also have a new water pump and i flushed the radiator a couple times. i had the motor in pieces for a long time and thats why i think its the tstat; hopefully that fixes my problem. anyway, thanks a lot for the responses, its really great to have this site and all these people willing to help.
