Rocker shaft ques.

This happened to me about three years ago ! broken rocker shaft and a bent exhaust valve. Is this a common problem on GN's ?? What would cause the valve to bend ?? There was no dammage to the piston. I had the heads rebuilt and they have been great since. Stock GN86 heads. The rocker shaft had a small crack in it . Enlighten me thanks

That's a weird one. I would think it was more likely something bent the valve and that caused the rocker shaft to break. They crack and break pretty easily at the bolt holes. The rough surface of the bolt holes is an ideal stress riser. It wouldn't take much force to break one that has even a tiny crack in it.
