Restalled D5 convertor slipping?

I have heard that if you have the D5 convertor restalled to lets say 2800rpm, they have a tendency to slip on the top end. Has anyone had any experience with this? I do not want to loose mph. I am trying to decide to keep my D5 original or have it loosened. I have ran 12.0@114 with the factory D5.
 
once the lock up is on and functioning properly there is no slippage up top.the cranshaft is locked to the input shaft.therefore the statement is not true.get one ,itll wake the car up.
