Replacing Coolant Temp. Gauge

I'm replacing the old VDO gauges for Auto Meter gauges, found the thread sizes in the new coolant gauge is to big for the threads in the block . I'm installing it next to the thermostat, left side. Any body know what size fitting I need to finish the installation ? What thread size in the block and the gauge ? Thanks.

Left side from which way? looking at the engine, or the "standard" way, from the dr seat?
You have the new sender, what size threads are on it?

All the intake sensor ports are 3/8" fpt. The port on side of the engine block i believe is 1/8" fpt.

If you are using electric senders, check and see if the out put of the VDO sender is the same as the Autometet sender. If it is you won't need to chang it.

Most all new gauge kits will come with the brass adapters to fit the new sending unit to the intake.
