Hi All,

I'm chasing a few minor leaks on my S10xGN truck, one of them is the seal at the manual shift shaft where it goes through the tranny case. How hard is it to disconnect and pull out the shaft and what kind of seal do I need to get?

Thanks!

Run it over to a transmission shop because most have a tool that can extract the seal with the shaft in place on the vehicle. A lot less mess & hassle for you, plus they'll have the correct seal to stick back in there.

Thanks Greg!

It's not quite "driveable" yet, but the leak is not too bad, so I may wait and do that. Oddly enough, the tranny sat there with fluid in it for a few weeks, and didn't start leaking until it was actually run? Tranny & TC were completely empty, so we added 6 qts. without running it (wouldn't this put the level over the shaft?) and it didn't leak, then added 5 more qts after fire-up for a good level, and now it leaks.

Later,
