Regal D.O.A Every morning

Guys with a freshly charged battery. measure the voltage with a DVM at the battery. Then start the car and re-measure the voltage at the battery. The voltage should increase .8 to 1 volt or better. If it does, the alternator is working. If it does not, then try zinging the engine rpm up to 3500 and go back and check the voltage again. The light in the dash serves 2 purposes. It gives you an indication of charge (light goes out after starting the car) and allows the alternator field a path to B+. The light goes out when the alternator field is satisfied, ( both sides of the bulb are 12v B+). If the light was bad or not properly seated in the socket it does not excite the field in the alternator, thus it does not begin to charge at low rpm speeds ( hence, zing the motor to about 3500 rpm). either way if the voltage never increases after you start the car, the charge system is not working. Also, check to make sure the voltage does not go down below what it was when the battery was fresh when you really load the electrical system down (I.E. lights on, radio on, a/c on) this basic check sees if the alternator can keep up with the load demand.
